We are the hero of our own
story.
--Mary McCarthy
On November 16, 2001 I decided not to go back to work on Monday. I left my career in law enforcement, four years spent in a doctoral program and an apartment on the upper west side of Manhattan. If asked on that date why I was leaving I would have said that I needed to escape from the tragedy I was bearing on a daily basis from the attacks just months earlier. Only years later can I look back and recognize that living through the eye of September 11th and witnessing loss in its purest form, did I finally learn how to live.
As each day passes I become more cognizant of my appreciation towards life. Instead of focusing on the death from years passed, I am trying to live life with as much fervor as I can muster. Recently, I have taken to writing down everything I want to accomplish with my life as a monument to the gift that I and everyone reading this has. I invite you to celebrate with me by writing a list of everything you want to accomplish with your life. You can e-mail my your lists at lifelist@appsychology.com if you would like to post them alongside mine, keep me updated to those things that you accomplish or to add on to your list. Let your list be an inspiration to you and all that read them and a celebration of what your life can be. Now onward to.....
